Description:
The IIFA Awards brought smiles to many, disappointment to some. Blockbuster Chak De! India ruled the nominations and bagged quite a handful of awards. Shah Rukh, who was missing at the event, won a well-deserved award for Best Performance in Leading Role (Male) for the film. Vivacious Kareena took home the award for Best Performance, Female, for Jab We Met. “Geet was sure to win hearts,” she chuckled. The very much in love debutant couple Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor won awards for Best Debutant Actress and Actor respectively, while charming Neil Nitin Mukesh was awarded the IIFA Fresh Face of the Year for his surprise hit, Johnny Gaddar. Akshay Kumar took home an IIFA Honour of Thailand Award, while Govinda’s performance in Partner got him the Best Performance in Comic Role award. Vivek Oberoi was applauded for his role of bad boy and bagged his first award for Best Performance in a Negative Role for Shootout At Lokhandwala. Mani Ratnam was appreciated for his masterpiece Guru, while A R. Rahman scored a hat-trick with awards for Music Direction, Background Music for Guru and a special award for Outstanding Contribution by an Indian in International Cinema. Yesteryear queen Mumtaz won the Lifetime Achievement Award. Like we said, smiles for many. The rest simply sat back and enjoyed what was a fun-filled evening. 986ActorsAwardedAtIIFA.mp4
